As ominous as Charlie sounds, it is Hankin who performs a disappearing act when in the end Emmett steals a monster Harley from Doreen's abductor and roars off into the sunset. It may make Hankin more comfortable to wave Emmett off in this way, but it trivializes him and keeps him forever separate from those Hankin seems to want to hold accountable.
