New Editor, Features

With this issue, Phyllis Orrick joins SF Weekly as managing editor.
Orrick returned to the Bay Area a few years ago to write, after various editing stints on the East Coast. During the late '80s and early '90s, she served as associate editor of the widely praised NYPress, where she covered the media, among other beats. Previously, she had worked her way from reporter to editor of the Baltimore City Paper.

In addition to her editorial duties, Orrick will join new SF Weekly contributor Susan Rasky to provide media coverage. Rasky, who teaches at the graduate school of journalism at UC Berkeley, is a former congressional correspondent for the New York Times who writes frequently on politics, government, and the economy.

Finally, this issue also marks the birth of a new column, "The Grid," which will explore political power-brokering, legal deal-making, and anything else writers George Cothran and Chuck Finnie can sneak past the editors.
