Fang
East Bay hardcore band Fang are back together. It's been 10 years, but they're not riding the wave of punk rock revival. The band was forced to break up in late 1987 when lead singer Sammy McBride left on the lam. Later, he starred on an episode of America's Most Wanted, which lead to a permanent role as a jail inmate for the murder of his girlfriend. During the hiatus, Fang's first two efforts, Landshark and Where the Wild Things Are, were re-released by Boner records on one CD (and thankfully not remastered). Songs such as "Fun With Acid" and "Destroy the Handicapped" sound old -- and considering neo-punk, that's a compliment. Like most punk bands, they sound much better live; shows usually turn into beer-soaked parties. Drift back to the days when G.B.H ruled, punk didn't require a uniform, and skinheads were just punks with shaved heads, when Fang plays their first live show in 10 years.

-- Robert Arriaga
