Deep Xanadu-doo

William Randolph Hearst's heirs want to build hotels and a golf course on his seaside estate, below his fabled castle. Ranchers and environmentalists are raising Kane.

But at the real Xanadu, William Randolph Hearst's legacy of power and influence appears destined to live on. What the Hearst Corp. wants, it will most likely get, in some form. Those on both sides of the battle agree that Hearst's name alone is enough to vault their fight to national prominence. "I believe if you didn't have the name Hearst in it, it wouldn't be nearly a fight," says county Supervisor Mike Ryan.

It shouldn't be surprising that the company Hearst created is intent on bending the state's coastal preservation laws to its own ends. If he were still alive, Hearst might have done the bending himself. But would Hearst have gone to so much trouble, exercised so much influence, just to be able to stare down from his hilltop Xanadu at a bunch of golfers?

Grievances- no. They worked well with the Hearsts until that incompetant clown named Steve Hearst took over at Hearst Ranch- he will not even admit to his personal faults, one being controling those zebras. While the number of animals on the Hearst "Ranch" has dropped to a small fraction of what it was before him, he cannot handle the few dozen that are there now. Like the baby he is he only wants everybody to stop talking about HIM, after HE smeared the Fiscalini name around the world using the Hearst media empire. A BIG baby.

It is very disingenuous to bring out this story from years ago. As it happened, The Hearsts have done more to preserve our beautiful central coast then anyone. The fact remeains, Fiscilini shot those 2 zebras with malice in his heart and because of past grievances with the Hearsts.A long time friend from down south, used the term "range wars" in jest, it is time for all of us to get over this constant division and come together. Peace
