Proposition J promises medical insurance for everyone in San Francisco. It's a laudable goal -- but do you really want Willie Brown doctoring your insurance premiums?

That the answers to their concerns presumably lie in Brown's mind is no comfort to the city's retirees. For them, Prop. J may be more a referendum on Willie Brown, and whether he should win re-election next year.

"We are not, per se, an anti-Willie group," says retired firefighter Tony Sacco. "But we can be next year.
