Sound and Vision An edgy, almost angry undercurrent flows through the spooky atmospherics of Visual Audio Sensory Theater (or VAST), suggesting that its creator, 22-year-old Jon Crosby, has seen more weirdness than someone his age should have. Something of a child prodigy (Guitar Player called him one of the world's most promising guitarists after the 13-year-old musician sent them a demo), Crosby has managed to cram all his favorite influences -- Dead Can Dance, the Beatles, Metallica -- into a multimedia spectacle. Religious imagery and the chanting of Benedictine monks and the Bulgarian Women's Choir collide with searing guitars, the faint thump of disco, and assorted industrial clamor. The results are powerful, jarring, but intriguing, too. The Jeremy Irons Band and Oleander open for VAST at 9 p.m. at the Bottom of the Hill, 1233 17th St. (at Texas), S.F. Admission is $7; call 621-4455.
