Metier

This is our favorite women's clothing store in San Francisco -- and definitely the one that offers the best total shopping experience. Metier is elegant without being chichi and carries beautiful, unusual pieces you won't find on the racks at Macy's. Plus, it's a good bet the store will have that knockout item you crave; and, since the store stocks only one piece in each size, you won't suffer the mortification of seeing yourself coming and going. Over the years, Metier has developed a loyal and devoted clientele -- and it's no wonder: It has the warmest, most accommodating staff in the city. Sales people know which lines individual customers covet and are schooled in how to deal with apparel obsession. That kind of personal attention, which caters to people with-out fawning over them, is the raison d'être of the small specialty shop and makes spending the last dime of your paycheck a complete pleasure. Hey, what are those stock options for, anyway?
