Most Eclectic Hardware Store

Haji's Hardware

Haji Najmabadi is a large, bearded, energetic Iranian who knows where everything in his cramped store is but guides you to it with spoken directions, from his place behind the register -- making you feel rather like a remote-controlled car. As his name implies, he's a Muslim who has traveled to Mecca ("I have had that pleasure three times, thank you"), and at the rear of the shop he sells a small selection of imported tapestries, tablecloths, jewelry, and lamps. The odd assortment looks like a Middle Eastern bazaar, but Haji treats the whole enterprise as a quite natural section of a hardware store. Your one-stop solution for WD-40 and Persian rugs.
