Best Bar Smoking Patio

The Castro District boasts some of the best smokers' patios in the city, and Lucky 13's tops even the rest of the neighborhood. Lucky 13 is an unpretentious and slightly generic bar with a bit of a dark edge and a startling number of imported beers on tap. But the best reason to duck under its giant black-cat sign is the patio. When it's time for a smoke break, patrons can slip out the back door into a courtyard complete with picnic tables and an assortment of old metal signs. The high walls surrounding the patio keep the wind from getting too cold, and the tables comfortably seat six or more friends. It's the next best thing to actually being allowed to smoke indoors, and it sure beats huddling under a streetlight.
