San Francisco Dance Center offers more than 100 classes in a variety of dance disciplines. Working dance professionals drop in for a dose of artistic renewal while amateurs at all levels of ability can choose from classes in classical ballet, belly dancing, flamenco, and modern, just to name a few. A single class will run you $12, and a 16-class card is a cost-saving $144. Each of the six studios is clean and spacious and has served as practice space for many renowned dance companies, including Alonzo King's Lines Ballet, which is headquartered here. A stroll through the corridors will give you a sense of the eclectic SFDC philosophy at work: From behind the door of an African dance class come the dense, swift thumps of a conga drum, while a little farther down the hall, in another studio, the faint strains of Chopin echo from a ballet class. If you've ever been interested in taking a dance class, no matter what your age or skill level, you'll be sure to find your niche here.
