Looks like some of you have realized only just now that you need to dip yourself in debauchery to properly send these past 12 months to history's ash heap. But fear not: For those procrastinators out there who appreciate true, almost incongruent musical variety, there's "Flavor Group and Compression's New Year's Eve Celebration," where your Dionysian destiny will be in the capable hands of a dubmeister, a soul man, a booty maniac, and an up-and-coming rock star.
The dubmeister is local golden boy DJ J. Boogie, whose seven-piece J. Boogie's Dubtronic Science band will flesh out his diverse, bouncing, urban take on traditional reggae dub. The soul man is smooth Philly singer/producer/DJ Vikter Duplaix, who is primed to melt the ladies' hearts with a deep house set accompanied by his own seductive and irresistibly vulnerable vocals. Shoring up those melted hearts will be the booty maniac, Detroit's Disco D, whose outrageous high-speed blend of ass-centered electro and strip-club house has made him a legend in the underground. Few can top off a night of dub, romance, and sex like tomorrow's rock star, the megatalented scratch DJ Z-Trip, who peppers his highly funky three-hour hip hop sets with grooves from unlikely sources such as Rush, Billy Squier, and the Who. Add the other amenities offered up -- including an open bar, tasty Indian appetizers, and a gang of supporting DJs -- and your last-minute NYE option could prove your best-case scenario. Good luck, you animals.
