"White Out!" promises frivolity, "Guilty" assures bastard electro, and the Pound Boys exhibit their "Devotion"

KALX DJs Disco Shawn and Mon Amie have a mission to put some boogie in the butts of disaffected indie rock fans with their one-off party "White Out!"The event's flier contains a disclaimer that dispenses with any potential seriousness: "This evening will not contain difficult, challenging, or esoteric music," it notes, promising instead a mix of funky stuff ranging from James Brown and OutKast to J.J. Fad and Dr. Dre. East Bay live bands Gravy Train and pOstCoitus add some electro sauciness to the fray on Friday, March 5, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Studio Z, 314 11th St. (at Folsom), S.F. Admission is $8; call 252-7666 or go to www.studioz.tv.

For the past few years, the Friday night discotheque scene in San Francisco has been, at best, uninspired. For most of us, getting ass-faced drunk at any old bar on the first night of the weekend was the only choice. That is, until now. "Bootie" mash-up masters Adrian and the Mysterious D., along with Suppositori Spelling and Mr. Anthony, have whipped up the new weekly "Guilty." Along with loverly go-go dancers, a what-would-you-do-for-a-drink-ticket contest, and CD giveaways, the night offers music that shreds, with a mix of bastard electro, pop, and rock. The shameful glee abounds on Fridays from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Stud, 399 Ninth St. (at Harrison), S.F. Admission is $5; call 252-7883 or visit www.studsf.com.

New York and New Jersey are the places most folks think of when speaking about vocal house music (called garage in some circles), but Denver's an unlikely hotbed for the stuff as well. The Mile High City's DJ Dealer and Craig C., aka the Pound Boys, have recorded with some of the genre's finest singers (such as former Ten City frontman Byron Stingily, Kim English, and Dajae) and for some of the top labels (Henry Street, AfterHours, Yellorange). They'll be wonderful guests at the weekly party "Devotion," where the kids show up to sing and dance their hearts out to some uplifting new and classic grooves. The Boys join resident DJ Ruben Mancias on Sunday, March 7, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. at the Endup, 401 Sixth St. (at Harrison), S.F. Admission is $15; call 357-0827 or go to www.devotionsf.com.
