Best CabaretThe Plush RoomAndrea Marcovicci, Patti LuPone, Spencer Day, and Connie Champagne are just a few of the renowned international and local names who've recently shown up to croon a tune or two at the York Hotel's Plush Room. With a stained-glass ceiling and cozy, intimate setting, this '20s-era speak-easy is one of the most enjoyable and comfortable venues in the city at which to catch a live show. Sure, we enjoy the Bottom of the Hill, the Hemlock Tavern, and the Fillmore just as much as the next music lover, but there's something about the Plush Room that makes us feel better. Perhaps it's our inner cabaret star trying to get out. Maybe it's the awesome lineup of theater and jazz luminaries. Could be the two-drink minimum. Regardless, the Plush Room's a refined yet accessible place to take your out-of-town parents, a date, or a group of friends for some torch songs and a couple of martinis.
