Ladies and gentlemen, you live in the most beautiful city in the world. If you're going to pop the question and you decide to do it in a restaurant (or some equally scenically uninspiring venue), then shame on you. The life-changing topic of marriage demands a dramatic backdrop -- and the loveliest one of all is the cliffs at Lands End. Right behind the Legion of Honor art museum are dirt walking trails flanking the sparkling blue ocean far below. Across the entrance to the bay, you can see the green hills of the Marin Headlands, and to the right, the Golden Gate Bridge. Private nooks and wooded grassy knolls abound. How hard would it be to take a picnic lunch, distract your significant other with, say, the task of peeling an egg, and produce a ring? Just make sure you catch your beloved when she swoons: It's a long way down.
