See straw man go up. Watch straw man go down:This was a fine article revealing yet another instance of corporate cowardice and greed ["Censorship for Dummies," Matt Smith, July 21]. But I must admit to being puzzled by an assertion implicit in the text of the article: Why would I go to Wal-Mart looking for anything edgy or out of the mainstream? Anything truly out of the mainstream must be small and hard to find. The advent of the Internet, secure online transactions, and merchant accounts makes the survival of edgy publishing much more likely even in the coming age of corporate behemoths.

Editor's note: Matt Smith's column did not state, or assert, or implicitly assert that one would go to Wal-Mart for "edgy" reading material.

Oh, Shirts

But we'd really like some silk-screened pasties:Great article the other week about DPT ["Don't Park There," July 7]. I love to hate them! I work as a valet late nights at the Hustler Club here in S.F., and the street sweeping goes right through the middle of my shift on the weekends. So I am constantly dodging. Heckling, fighting, escaping, battling. But most of all ... paying DPT. Though I wonder if anyone has more citation review requests than me. So I really enjoyed your article.

I am also trying to start a silk-screening business and actually made these shirts a few weeks ago. When I saw the cover of the Weekly, I thought you guys might enjoy these shirts. So anyway: Enjoy. Hope they fit. Thanks for the laughs.
