Got a yen for Barry Bonds? Do you get all weepy when you catch a whiff of the garlic fries sold at SBC Park? If you're 18 or under -- or have similarly Giants-inclined children who are -- there are still five more days before the "Pitch Your Idea"contest ends. The competition encourages kids aged 5 to 18 to create short clay-animation commercials in Zeum's in-house Claymation studio that illustrate their love for the hometown boys of summer. The originators of the films judged the best in each of three age categories will be invited to an upcoming game to watch their work on the ballpark's humongous screen. Wacky sports are popular in the Bay Area: We're the proud home of strange teams from hacky-sack-kicking footbag leagues to something called the "Extreme Croquet Club." But the ultimate in getting sweaty, looking bizarre, and then drinking to celebrate hails from the United Kingdom and beyond -- cricket. Sesame Street's Ernie warped impressionable young minds with his passionate ode to an inanimate rubber object when he sang, "Rubber Ducky, joy of joys/ When I squeeze you, you make noise/ Rubber Ducky, you're my very best friend, it's true!" In fact, Ernie might have been a little too fond of his plasticized waterfowl. And given his attachment, he probably would have stayed far away from an event in which his buddy was put into mortal danger: the "Rubber Ducky Round-Up." Members of the San Francisco Model Yacht Club set the toys adrift in a large pond and then send out miniature motorboats to bring them back to safety, as bird-loving onlookers tremble with anxiety. The pint-size rescues begin at 9 a.m. at Spreckels Lake, 36th Avenue & Fulton, in Golden Gate Park, S.F. Observing is free; visit www.sfmyc.org.
