Fridays at the Stud have hosted club nights over the past year that, for one reason or another, just didn't stick. Now the creative folks who brought you Lit's long-running "Vanguard" have moved into the slippery vacancy with their new night, "Shadowplay." And the odds of success, it seems, are in their favor: While DJ Donimo and weekly guest DJs spin immortal electro, disco-punk, and punk hits from the past, you can also hear the sounds of today's groove-worthy indie beats (think people in black dancing to Franz Ferdinand). This contrast, thankfully, keeps away any irritating retro vibe.
