Anchor Brewing

1705 Mariposa (at De Haro), 863-8350, www.anchorbrewing.com

Anchor Brewing, which makes seven beers and ales (including the popular Anchor Steam, since 1896), offers a free, weekly, yeasty-smelling public tour of its handsome and immaculate all-copper brewhouse, by reservation only, for parties of up to 10. The guided walking tour lasts about 45 minutes and includes a brief history of the brewery and a look at all three floors of the building. A tasting session follows, and is only available to tour members. (The tour and tasting together last about two hours.) Children are welcome, but of course they can't join in the beer tasting. Reservations are taken by phone, and a month's lead time is suggested.
