June Taylor

We were never big jam fanciers until we sampled the delicious hand-cut marmalades and preserves of June Taylor, and we've never been without a jar (or two or three) since. We were introduced to her wares by the serious foodie (and erstwhile San Franciscan) Dan Philips, proprietor of www.gratefulpalate.com, inventor of the Bacon of the Month Club, and purveyor of all things most delicious. Several upscale retail emporiums also stock the jams, and Miss Taylor herself often presides, with an English accent, over the June Taylor stand at the Saturday Ferry Building Farmers Market. Made with organic fruits, a minimum of sugar, and no pectin or additives, these fragrant, jewel-colored treats turn an English muffin into an occasion. We're sappy for all the marmalade flavors (including blood orange, Meyer lemon and rose geranium, and silver lime and ginger), the cherry and almond conserve, and the white nectarine fruit butter. Bring a jar to your dinner hostess instead of the inevitable bottle of wine.
