Bay Area native and dead ringer for Ben Stiller playing a rock star, Butch Berry knows a thing or 200 about hooks. This kid's Beatle-worthy songs about love won and lost are so damn catchy you'll find yourself singing them while showering, brushing your teeth, and trying to sleep. His last full-length album, Unlimited, was a self-produced and mostly self-executed pop masterpiece, but for the last few years, Berry has been delivering stellar live shows with his partner in crime, bassist/singer Rob Teitelbaum, whom he found on Craigslist. Other band members have come and gone, but it is Berry, with his lively guitar licks and pristine pipes, and Teitelbaum, with his solid-as-a-rock harmonies and rhythm, who form the nucleus of this pop machine. At one recent gig, Berry brought a full orchestra to add a carnival feel to his song "No More Loneliness," from his new EP Ex-Girlfriend. Way cool.
