WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY: The dark romantic comedy The Philadelphia Story (George Cukor, 1940; 5:25, 9:10 p.m.) screens with the darker noir Laura (Otto Preminger, 1944; 7:30 p.m.), which with its waspish star Clifton Webb is still pretty funny.
FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY: Two by John Huston, with Humphrey Bogart as a weary, sarcastic adventurer -- the romantic The African Queen (1951; 7:30 p.m.; also Sat & Sun 3:50 p.m.) and the absurdist Beat the Devil (1953; 5:45, 9:25 p.m.).
