On its release the film was "literally attacked by feminist activists, and copies were publicly destroyed" 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY (May 21): S.F. Cinematheque presents Kidlat Tahimik's enjoyable experimental feature The Perfumed Nightmare (Philippines, 1977), on the theme of American cultural influence in his village and around the world 7:30 p.m.

Charlie Haden's Quartet West performs "A Night in Noir City" this Saturday, May 27th, at the Herbst Theatre, as a benefit for the Bay Area-based Film Noir Foundation, sponsor of the annual San Francisco Film Noir Festival.
