More About

Impact Theatre does not suffer from a lack of diversity in its audience. On the night I attended this production, my row was populated by two white women in their late 60s, a Hispanic family, a middle-aged gay couple, and three teenagers — one of whom had pointed to previous Impact posters in the lobby, declared he'd seen every one of those shows, and announced that they "rocked." The poster for Money & Run Episode 4depicts two "überhot" (as the press release has it) actors, one with an eye patch, standing in flames and pointing guns as if in some Quentin Tarantino flick. Money & Runfollows the continuing adventures of the crime duo Money (Alexandra Creighton) and Run (Andrew Fonda Jackson) as they rob Big Momma Bob's Liquor and Wine Emporium, get busted, and — to keep the local orphanage from becoming a nudie bar — promise to live the straight and narrow life. The action plays like an '80s TV show (think Miami Vicemixed with The Dukes of Hazzard), complete with a slow-mo montage to Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend," a hilarious chicks-only kung fu fight (choreographed by Christopher Morrison), and plenty of pithy '80s one-liners ("That's my name, don't wear it out"). When the actors aren't forcing the humor and trying to outdo each other, they deliriously live up to the company's motto, creating "theatre that doesn't suck."
