Gettin' Super Heavy on a Thursday night

Every fourth Thursday, the sound system at the Madrone Lounge serves up confectionary indie rock with sides of dancefloor sweets. Super Heavy Duty DJs are fans of alt rock's top of the pops (Kasabian, the Subways) with crossover club hitters like MSTRKRFT and CSS. And while the Madrone may be cozy, it still offers enough space to stretch your legs to the beats, should the mood — and the booze — strike you right. Local promoter True Skool brings a night of spiritually charged lyricism with Lord Jamar and Sadat X, two-thirds of hip-hop group Brand Nubian. Catalog greats like "Slow Down" or "Punks Jump Up" might join more recent efforts from Jamar, who recently released the solo effort The 5% Album, and the group itself, whose last album Fire in the Hole was released in 2004.
