Gomez Spreads Cheer

Through stage shows with names like Marga Gomez's Intimate Details and Single Wet Female, it would be fair to say that Gomez -- groundbreaking in the ´80s as one of the first out lesbian comics in America -- specializes in vagina monologues. After a wandering period of bicoastal experimentation in New York, where she wrote and starred in off-Broadway productions, Gomez recently moved back to the Bay Area, and has now revamped her holiday parody The Twelve Days of Cochina, which she first presented in San Francisco four years ago. Expect both the sexually taboo (family abuse rendered in comedy) and the topically political (the Bush family rendered in puppet form), all presented with whimsical costume changes and the lovely, acerbic wit that makes Gomez memorable.

Additionally, one of the advertised features of Cochina is its "Al Gore PowerPoint presentation," which should reveal more than a few inconvenient truths.
