He's internationally known as one of America's top dance music DJs and as one of the breakout stars of the Los Angeles rave scene, but Doc Martin got his start right here some 20 years ago spinning in the city's post-disco hotspots. His increasingly rare S.F. appearances are a buzzed-about treat, offering unpredictable sets of familiar funk and obscure house alike. His finesse as a DJ is as durable as his namesake shoes, and will have revelers doing stylized versions of the steel-toe stomp on Friday, Dec. 22, at Ruby Skye at 9 p.m. Admission is $15; call 693-0777 or visit www.rubyskye.com for more info. S.F.'s Kaskade (Ryan Raddon) is a popular DJ/producer on the international house music map at a time when few locals are rating such attention. After dropping his first two albums on local independent label Om, Kaskade released Love Mysterious this fall on Ultra, a mainstream dance label from New York. With the move (and globetrotting the festival circuit) comes a larger sound, more elaborate instrumentation, and bolder female vocals. He spins for weekly party "Remedy" on Friday, Dec. 22, at DNA Lounge at 10 p.m. Admission is $10-20; call 626-1409 or visit www.dnalounge.com for more info. T.P.
