"Mighty to Miami" is a send-off party for locals getting ready to attend South Florida's annual dance music spring break (aka the Winter Music Conference). Even in the flannel-flapping grunge era, Juan Maclean pretended he was I, Cyborg in his old band, Six Finger Satellite. A decade on, postÐ rock band breakup and crack-rock breakdown, he again dons the chrome pate, now made fashionable anew in a century populated by Daft Punk and the return of Battlestar Gallactica. As his sleek, silvery debut, 2005's Less Than Human, made evident, Maclean is into the slippery surfaces of disco and the serrated squelches of acid house and techno, a few genres that swell his flight cases these days and will no doubt serve as the foundation of his DJ set when Maclean hits 1015 on Friday, March 16, at 10 p.m. Admission is $10-20; call 431-1200 or visit www.1015.com for more info. — Andy Beta

With his most recent album Biscuits for Breakfast, Brighton, England's Fink (Finian Greenhall) changed his sound so drastically that he temporarily deceived his record label, Ninja Tune. His first all-instrumental releases on Ninja were right in line with the powerhouse label's emphasis on abstract trip-hop beats; when Fink turned in an album full of tender vocals and acoustic guitar, he initially said that someone else was singing.
