Holy Molar!

All Teeth and Knuckles knock some sense outta our scene

Perhaps I'm just a jaded old fuck, but it seems like we're lacking in vibrant local bands lately. Where's the virtuosity of the Mo'Fessionals? Or Fang's seething hardcore fury? Or the genre-stomping fun of MCM & the Monster? It's depressing that the Willie Brown/dot-com legacy still forces most of the creative art-freaks out of town, but at least we have All Teeth and Knuckles. These two youngsters, Sick Face Fallon and Gio Fo'Rio, came out of the Central Valley a few years back with guns blazing, and have unleashed a fury of electro-hip hop with a distinctive punk attitude that finds ready listeners in this town's fickle and disenfranchised ears. A live set sends singer/songwriter Fallon into seduction mode, snuggling up to the audience's very chins and whispering lyrics into their ears, while Fo'Rio provides a barrage of beats and keyboard blips from behind. With songs like "Validate My Steez" and "Fuck Your Jacket," All Teeth take on Mission hipsters and barroom Rico Suaves while becoming the coolest damn kids in town. Their 808 bass hits deep and their new-wave melodies pop, while Fallon raps about his life and woes — girls, drinking, everyday assholes, and paying the rent. "Yeah, I know Daft Punk/ they've already played at my house/ I showed them up/ right before I showed them out," he scowls on "Validate," before pleading, "Where's my motherfucking fanbase? Where's my goddamn crew?!" with the intensity of a young Ian MacKaye.

These Central Valley refugees are proving themselves the coolest kids in town.
