Tall Paul delivers towering dance floor jams

At 6 feet 6 inches, Tall Paul is statuesque, but his talent as a DJ (who has performed for more than 20 years) soars above the gimmick of his name. He first developed a following — and continues to hone his skills — at Turnmills, the 1,000-capacity London nightclub owned by his family, where he produces the sort of chugging progressive house that he spins by other artists. He's remixed big names like Duran Duran, New Order, and the Killers, and likely has a few surprises in his duffel bag when he DJs on Friday, April 20, at Ruby Skye at 9 p.m. Admission is $15; call 693-0777 or visit www.rubyskye.com for more info. Signed to breakbeat label Finger Lickin' Records, England's Nick Slater and Kevin Lancaster are the DrumAttic Twins, producers of bass- and funk-heavy dance tracks. Their logo is a cartoon caricature of the pair sporting octopus tentacles and juggle turntables. Watch the duo as they attempt this feat in person; they'll perform a "dex 'n fx" DJ set, mixing songs and altering them on the fly with sound effects, on Friday, April 20, at Mighty at 10 p.m. Admission is $15; call 626-7001 or visit www.mighty119.com for more info. — T.P.
