A Stand Up Guy

When he puts his comic hat on, Bucky Sinister is one funny guy. But he’s not just a comedian -- he’s also a published author, a talented poet, and someone with a fascinating background that makes for great story fodder. Think Patton Oswalt with a more literary bent. With childhood dreams of being a fundamentalist preacher, Sinister wandered across the U.S. in his itinerant youth before taking refuge in the weirdo wonderland of San Francisco, where he honed his distinctive blend of poetic observation, comic snark, and spoken-word performance. Sinister has three books under his belt, and now he’s got his first CD -- What Happens in Narnia, Stays in Narnia -- coming out on upstart local comedy label Talent Moat. Recorded at Hemlock Tavern, Narnia is an insightful and consistently hilarious look at recovery groups, attitudinal video clerks, raw food, Courtney Love, Craigslist dates, and more. And the last track, the 21.5 minute opus “Like a Real Life Adam Sandler,” is a sidesplitting narrative of Mohawk Girl, his punk rock tweaker stalker. Get ready to laugh when Bucky Sinister hits the stage at the CD release party, with music from Seattle’s Akimbo and locals Hank IV. The critically lauded noise-murk of Mexico’s Los Llamarada kicks things off.
