Audiofly is a relatively new, transnational duo (U.K.'s Anthony Middleton and Italy's Luca Saporito) offering original singles and imaginative remixes for a host of chic record labels (SAW, Get Physical) and bands (UNKLE, Deep Dish). Their efforts hone in on that funky edge separating house from techno, with prominence placed on big whomping basslines that make movement mandatory. Fans of M.I.A. might want to take in this show with DJ Switch (Dave Taylor), the hotly-tipped British artist who coproduced two-thirds of her new album, Kala. Switch is currently working on his proper solo debut, but his handful of solo singles suggests a wonderfully mad mind filled with erratic time signatures and a raver's stamina for big beat throwdowns. Fresh off a tour with industrial icons Nitzer Ebb, Motor now steps into its own spotlight. This beat-flogging trio cops Kraftwerk's android mechanics and Daft Punk's robo-booty basslines, then doubles the strength and viscosity. Motor's synths are thick as syrup and leak more acid than a Chinese battery. The snare hits, meanwhile, splash and splatter as if the drum machines have been marinating in 10W-40 for a month. In a word: wet. This is retro electro that practically forces you to sweat at gunpoint.
