Tonight at the War Memorial Opera House, the lights will dim on those who have spent more than $275 to sit quietly in their best clothes for the last performance of Camille Saint-Saëns's Samson and Delilah. Yes, tonight you can watch the show from baseball seats, and it won't cost you a penny. You can even drag a blanket out to the field if you register beforehand. Otherwise, just show up at 7 p.m. and shoot for the baselines. This is the third time S.F. Opera General Director David Gockley has brought productions to the yowling masses for free in a little more than one year. The first at Civic Center drew 8,000 people, but Opera at the Ballpark should draw many more. Here's one reason: Hot dogs.
