Although the Comedy Day Web site never fails to worry us, with its animated clip art, banana-peel logo, and side-splitting tagline ("Comedy Day. Comedy Everyday. ComedyDay.com." Hah!), the annual event is a safe bet. More than 500 comics have performed to more than 500,000 attendees since 1981, and the alumni list is rife with headliners: Dave Chappelle, Ellen DeGeneres, Robin Williams, Margaret Cho, and Janeane Garofalo have all sweated in the sun, trying to humor the locals. Expect a good dose of "Look! I'm a comic and I'm outside!" jokes, and probably some about Frisbee and dogs. But they're selling beer and wine, so it won't be a totally alien scene. Today's lineup leans on local talent, including Will Franken, Marga Gomez, Will and Debi Durst, Tom Ammiano, Doug Ferrari, Brian Copeland, Aundré the Wonderwoman, and many more. Music by the Stupeds kicks things off.
