Bookish Behavior

Pulitzer Prize–winning author Michael Chabon is the keynote speaker at the S.F. Jewish BookFest. The author, who won the big one for The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, plans to talk about memory and identity; he also goes into that stuff in his latest novel, The Yiddish Policemen's Union, which supposes that instead of Israel, European Jewish refugees settled in Alaska. He speaks at noon. Other featured readers include Steve Almond of Candyfreak fame, who reads from his latest, (Not That You Asked), on disasters, and Sophie Judah, whose Dropped from Heaven is a novel about a Jewish community in India.
