There's a moment in the 2002 film Adaptation during which someone asks why one of the characters doesn't get his missing front teeth replaced. "It strikes me as almost sociopathic, to make everyone look at that," she laughs. This kind of shallow yet almost fascistic thinking invades our judgment more than most of us probably know, so it's quite lucky we have freedom fighters like the performers of "Sins Invalid." Billed as "an unashamed claim to beauty in the face of invisibility," the show is a celebration of sensuality for all, even those with disabilities. Gasp! Yes, it's true, "crips" — as some wheelchair users and inhabitants of unorthodox bodies call themselves — could be hot and have lots of sex. The evening promises back-brace lap dancing, erotic words about lesbian wheelchair sex, and more. For this second annual event, organizers Patty Berne and Leroy Moore break it down: "We're both pretty hot. And we both humbly know it. Still, every day we struggle with the disconnect between what we know to be true about our beauty and what the world seems to believe." They mention that pop culture's persistently "perverted, evil cripples" don't help them get dates. This show sounds like it will, though.
