Get Out of the House Free CardBy Hiya SwanhuyserPublished on November 06, 2007 at 4:20amWhat do snakes, gay history, and cartoons have in common? For a start, they're all things San Franciscans like to look at. For another, they're located within a few steps of each other near the intersection of Third and Mission streets. At the Yerba Buena Arts and Culture Free 4 All, 12 cultural institutions including the California Academy of Sciences (snakes), the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Historical Society of California (gay history), and the Cartoon Art Museum (funny papers) are all open, and you don't have to pay to get in. So pack up the kids: You can hit the MOMA, the MOAD, and the YBCA without spending a penny. Another participant is the relatively small, elegantly curated California Historical Society, probably a good choice for those without children in tow.
