Where's Dom?

As you can see by its title, The $2,904 New York City to San Francisco Motorized Vehicular Tournament takes pains to not depict itself as a Cannonball Run–style road race in which finishing first matters. The first hint is the "$2,904," which means competitors can spend no more than that amount on the cross-country trip, and that includes the price of the car, fuel, speeding tickets, and "Little Debbie snack cakes and Moxie soda." (But drivers can and should spend as much as they want on Buffalo wings and safety equipment.) The "race" starts at a secret location on Nov. 10-11 — yes, everybody gets a full day to cross the starting line — and ends whenever they get here. Tonight's finish-line party features the artwork of Craig Lima.
Tue., Nov. 13, 7 p.m., 2007
