Good Golly, Miss Molly!

According to Wikipedia, UK group the Psychedelic Furs is more than just a random band on a soundtrack, actually inspiring the John Hughes teen flick classic Pretty in Pink with the 1981 song of the same name. More than two decades later, the odd and moody almost-ballad that heralded the modern rock era is still the tune most closely tied to the Furs and the one (along with other hits like "Love My Way" and "Heartbreak Beat") that still keeps the franchise afloat. But while it's usually pretty darn foolish to go to a show like this expecting anything other than the good old standards, the group (still helmed by original members Richard and Tim Butler) has been in the studio and may actually spring some new material on the audience. Nevada City-based rock quartet Kings & Queens and local shiny popsters Persephone's Bees open, and DJ Skip and Shindog of popular SF club night "New Wave City" spin nostalgia-inducing '80s tunes.
