Kid Sister might have to consider finally quitting her day job at a Chicago children's store after MTV put the rapper's "Pro Nails" video on regular rotation. Though the lyrics, which basically celebrate elaborate nail work, have little to say, this Kid has a remarkable sense of rhythm and the right connections (enough to get Kanye West to sing with her). DJ Flosstradamus, a talented Chicago remixer in his own right, backs her on this tour, and together their audience rapport should be excellent. Kid Sister's debut CD is still in the works, but the little that's leaked so far is enough to keep us on our toes — pun intended — about what the future might bring. Los Angeles is fond of putting starlets, celebutantes, and wannabe Playboy bunnies behind the turntables — talentless acts that besmirch the good reputation of a real female DJ like Colette. She currently resides in the City of Lost Angels, but she came up in Chicago's house music scene, where anyone lacking solid skills get laughed out of the booth. She not only holds her own spinning records, but she also raises the bar on live performances by actually singing over her DJ sets (and producing her own songs, for that matter).
