Body Shots

Last time we saw Violeta Luna, she wore a clunky brace on one leg, fake Frida Kahlo eyebrows, and a tiger-print unitard. She soon tossed the brace (we had thought it was "real"), rolled around on the ground outside Mission Dolores, and did some friendly growling at the beer-holding dudes at the City Club. No reason to think the Mexico City performance artist will behave any (better? worse?) more predictably at NOHspace Presents: Alien Body, which showcases Luna as well as locals Allison Wyper and Sara Shelton Mann. The three women are "curated on-site and intervened" by Guillermo Gómez-Peña. Shelton Mann's contact-improv-inspired choreography and Wyper's SF Mime Troupe and La Pocha Nostra experiences combine to physically interrogate the title's two words. The trio represents different generations, different backgrounds, and different artistic bents, and each woman adds her experience to this critical and entertaining performance. (Only one is likely to wrap her face in barbed wire, though.)
