Show-OffsBy Michael LeavertonPublished on January 22, 2008 at 4:20amThere are few things left to say about dog shows that Best in Show didn't already cover, but here's one of them: fly ball. In the sport, which has been around since the '70s without anyone noticing, a dog runs over hurdles, pounces on a spring-loaded box to release a tennis ball, snatches the ball, then leaps back over the hurdles to the glory of dogs everywhere. Today's Golden Gate Kennel Club Dog Show has demonstrations at 1 and 3 p.m., along with all the usual prancing poofery.
