By The Light of the Moon

Lunafest, a traveling women's film festival, features nine films made by women from seriously international backgrounds. The auteurs span Korea, Iceland, Colombia, and many other countries. Breaking Boundaries: The Sondra Van Ert Story, a documentary by Jennifer Grace, is bound to resonate at this particular screening at the sporting goods store, since it's about an Olympic athlete. Also destined for popularity is Isold Uggadottir's Family Reunion, with its theme of familial wackiness: Is this not one of the true universal experiences? Other films investigate loss, motherhood, and the difficulty of acquiring birthday cake in an occupied territory. And dancing. And strawberries. You know. Chick stuff.
