Cock, Roach

Mary Roach is legendary. As an author, she is a rare combination of dry wit and ferociously talented investigator. Having produced two books of nonfiction, Stiff and Spook, on the subjects of what happens to our bodies and our souls, respectively, when we die, she has a new one: Bonk. It's about sex. Far from being a pouffy feel-good treatise or salacious how-to, the book is an investigation of the ways science has been integrated into our most private lives. It's kind of nauseating in the details, like her other books, especially when she researches Danish pig insemination, and also very funny, like her other books, especially when she researches Danish pig insemination. This reading is the first stop on Roach's national tour and the occasion of the bookstore's 1000th author trading card.
