Scotsman Billy Connolly is one of the most famous comedians in the English-speaking world — you know, Uncle Monty from A Series of Unfortunate Events. Disproving the notion that wildly famous Europeans don't have much luck in the States, Connolly was also a zombie in the 2006 comedy Fido, which was in American theaters very briefly last year, and he played opposite Bill Murray as Lord Dargis in Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, which is rumored to have been made and released. He also traded lines with Kirk Cameron as teacher Billy MacGregor in the final season of Head of the Class. What hasn't this guy done? Things are going just as well for Connolly in Europe. Last month, tickets for his new touring show, "Too Old to Die Young," went on sale in Belfast. He sold out eight shows — 15,000 tickets — in one hour. Then his Limerick show went on sale, and 3,000 tickets vanished in the time it takes to have lunch. He's been doing the same all over Europe, delighting reporters, who regularly label him stuff like "arguably the greatest stand-up comedian of all time" (this from the Strabane Chronicle out of Ireland). This month Connolly comes to S.F. for ten nights for "Billy Connolly Live!" Tickets have been on sale since February 24. We suggest you get a move on.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: April 1. Continues through April 12, 2008
