You hear so much bad news most of the time, from the war to the fact that landlords are attempting to repeal rent control on June 3. Bleah. Ready for some good news? The Fillmore Farmers' Market just reopened! More farmers' markets = better. These days, each market tends to develop a microculture of its own, and our guess is this year's Fillmore FM won't be different. To help things along in this historically musical district, the market features live jazz every week. But that's just the icing. The cake is the fruits and vegetables, which in May are expected to be full-on spring-has-sprung insanity, with cucumber, eggplant, peas, and the thing we've all been waiting for: The stone fruits! What's better than peach, apricot, and cherry season? Our favorite individual farm at Fillmore, Happy Boy Farms, is likely to start bringing their famous tomatoes soon, too. In addition to all that, the market offers fresh bread, fresh honey, and fresh eggs.
Saturdays, 9 a.m. Starts: April 26. Continues through Nov. 22, 2008
