Watch Them CookBy Michael LeavertonPublished on May 13, 2008 at 4:21amFor more than a decade, Killing My Lobster has been the anchor that keeps our local sketch comedy scene from sailing into irrelevancy. But its members have also been charting a parallel course the entire time -- as filmmakers. At KML Gets Reel: Film Night and Fund-Raiser, get a look at the troupe's best efforts, including a sneak preview of Evolution: The Musical, an upcoming film by the men behind the hit KML Faces the Music, Andrew Bancroft and Kenny Taylor. Also stay put for the ridiculously funny Strindberg and Helium by KML design studio Milky Elephant. A series of cartoon shorts, it stars the writer and his imaginary, possibly drug-induced little buddy, a smiling cartoon balloon, who responds to the writer's proclamations about the agony of existence in the best way we can imagine: in a happy, high-pitched helium voice, sweetly repeating words like "hell" and "misery." Hosted by KML member Jon Wolanske, the night also features a silent auction and a performance by Eggplant Casino.
