Supreme DJs of Leisure: Lawnchair GeneralsBy Tamara PalmerPublished on June 24, 2008 at 12:06pmSeattle's LawnChair Generals (Peter Christianson and Carlos Mendoza) earned international appeal as a rare class of house DJs with skills and a sense of humor. Tunes like "Broke Acid" (say out loud to get the joke) take the old squelchy acid house formula and give it modern restraint by keeping layers of beats and bass minimal, while debut full-length Around the Block collects together the best of the Generals' singles and remixes. Included on that disc is the Generals' rework of Mister Leisure's "Don't Clap Your Hands," which contradicts the title by adding cheeky handclap-type accents to the beat.
