Getting All Dusty

A certain kind of woman makes you wonder: Does her power emanate from her hair, or does her might affect her coiffure? Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, and Cher come to mind immediately, but Dusty Springfield really takes the cake in this category. She was the right woman at the right time, and she was blessed with the right hair for her sound. At Brand New Me!, chameleonic chanteuse Connie Champagne interprets Dusty. She's famous for doing Judy Garland, and maybe that's why her publicity photos are blonde bouffant-free. She wouldn't dare take the stage without ... no. We can't even go there. Although if she did bust out "Son of a Preacher Man" or "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" wearing some other, flatter 'do, it would put to rest the above conundrum in Ms. Champagne's favor.
