Comediennes Beth Lisick and Tara Jepsen are our own Amy Sedarises: You don’t know whom they’re mocking, exactly, but you’re well aware it could be you. At their new and first-ever two-woman show, Getting in on the Ground Floor and Staying There, the pair celebrates ten years of making merry at the expense of someone else. Reprises of past shticks include skits by characters such as real womyn’s women, Carole and Mitzi, who recall early Lily Tomlin crossed with Saturday Night Live’s middle-school music teachers, with their mom jeans and wig don’ts. But we're especially looking forward to Beth and Tara as themselves, telling “stories about embarrassing gigs”: They insist they drove to San Diego for a performance once, only to be paid 16 one-dollar bills. The show also includes a screening of their short, somewhat disgusting film Diving for Pearls, which tends to negate any glamour in the room.
