Hercules & Love Affair is the sleek retro-futuristic vehicle for New York DJ Andrew Butler's supremely animated dance-pop. On the project's self-titled, DFA-assisted debut, Butler is joined by a small stable of guest vocalists, most notably Antony Hegarty of Antony & the Johnsons. The sizable crossover single "Blind" finds Butler and Hegarty whipping up absolute hipster-disco heaven for six-plus minutes, and other tracks similarly blend the sparkling and the sultry.
